چکیده

This paper deals with the diagnosis of induction motors (IM) with the so-called motor current signature analysis (MCSA). The MCSA is one of the most efficient techniques for the detection and the localization of electrical and mechanical failures, in which faults become apparent by harmonic components around the supply frequency. This paper presents a summary of the most frequent faults and its consequences on the stator current spectrum of an IM. A three-phase IM model was used for simulation taking into account in one hand the normal healthy operation and in the other hand the broken rotor bars, the shorted turns in the stator windings, the voltage unbalance between phases of supply and the abnormal behavior of load. The MCSA is used by many authors in literature for faults detection of IM. The major contribution of this work is to prove the efficiency of this diagnosis methodology to detect multiple faults simultaneously, in normal and abnormal functional conditions. The results illustrate good agreement between both simulated and experimental results.

Broken Rotor Bars Detection in Squirrel-cage Induction Machines by Motor Current Signature Analysis Method

Condition monitoring is an important issue in the maintenance of electrical machines. In the last years several methods for fault diagnosis of the squirrel-cage induction motors were cited in the literature. Among these methods the Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) is considered the most effective non-invasive fault detection method, because it can easily detect all the common electrical ...

Detection of Stator Short Circuit Faults in Three-Phase Induction Motors Using Motor Current Zero Crossing Instants

Stator faults typically have a significant share amongst the common type of faults in industrial three-phase induction (asynchronous) motors. This paper presents a motor current signature analysis (MCSA)-based diagnostics of the stator winding short circuit fault. This type of fault happens due to the destruction of the turn insulation, and can be very detrimental causing motor shutdown. Instea...

Broken rotor bar fault detection in inverter-fed squirrel cage induction motors using stator current analysis and fuzzy logic

This paper presents the implementation of broken rotor bar fault detection in an inverter-fed induction motor using motor current signal analysis (MCSA) and prognosis with fuzzy logic. Recently, inverter-fed induction motors have become very popular because of their adjustable speed drive. They have been used in many vital control applications such as rolling mills, variable speed compressors, ...

Rotor Faults Detection in Squirrel-cage Induction Motors by Current Signature Analysis

The condition monitoring of the electrical machines can significantly reduce the costs of maintenance by allowing the early detection of faults, which could be expensive to repair. In this paper some results on non-invasive detection of broken rotor bars in squirrel-cage induction motors are presented. The applied method is the so-called motor current signature analysis (MCSA) which utilises th...
